The women's basketball team jumped out to a 31-11 lead and never looked back to post their 10th victory of the season with a 100-50 victory against Brooklyn College on Friday night in the ARC Arena.
Junior forward Myleka Garnett (Seaside, Calif./Seaside) recorded a perfect evening by shooting 7-for-7 from the field to finish with 18 points. She nearly had a double-double with nine rebounds.
Karlee Whipple (Lund, Nev./Lund) led all scorers with 19 points (8-13 fg), while Jody Trapp (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) and Dominique McClendon (Chicago, III./Seaside) each scored 10 points.
The Bearcats (10-6, 6-0 CUNYAC) shot 55 percent (41-74) and nailed five three-pointers in the home victory.
Brooklyn (3-11, 1-5 CUNYAC) struggled shooting 30 percent (17-57). They were led in scoring by Jaclyn Cavalcante (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) with 15 points.
The women’s basketball team will return to action this Monday, Martin Luther King Day, with an afternoon non-conference clash against the Valiants of Manhattanville.
Tip-off in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
